When you are using Get on Board to apply to jobs based in another country, what you can do depends on the job’s work modality and on where the company can legally hire.
Which foreign jobs can I apply to?
Check the work modality shown near the top of each job:
- Fully remote: you can apply and work from anywhere in the world, including from your current country.
- Remote (local): the role is 100% remote, but the company only accepts candidates who live in a specific country or region. You can apply if you reside in one of those locations.
- On-site or hybrid: the role requires working from a specific place, so you need to be able to work legally in the job’s country.
To find roles you can take from abroad, use the remote filter in the job search, or filter by the country where you can work.
What happens when I apply to a non-remote job abroad
If the job is not remote, the application form asks you to confirm one extra thing: that you can legally work in the job’s location. You’ll check a box that reads “I certify that I have a legal work permit in [country]” before you can submit.
If your country of residence is not one the company accepts, you’ll see a notice that the job only accepts candidates from certain locations. From there you can apply anyway, look for other jobs, or update your country of residence if it’s outdated.
Some companies offer relocation. When that’s the case, the form asks you to confirm that you are willing to relocate to the job’s location if you are hired.
If you are relocating
Apply only if you will be able to work legally in the job’s country by the time you would accept an offer. Use the message to the company in your application to explain your situation and your timeline, so they know what to expect.
